Erin and I went to sleep around midnight Thursday and I was nudged at 3:30am with a “it’s your turn now”. Needless to say I had absolutely no idea what that meant. Turns out it meant Erin was starting to go into labor. So I did what any smart, loving, wonderful husband would do. I went back to sleep (to be fair Erin allowed it).
By around 10am everyone except Beth was assembled for the birth (she was on her way, thanks for bringing kolaches and pie!!!). Erin was a champ. She spent most of her labor on the floor hugging her pillow and alternating grabbing for the blanket and throwing it off of her.
After the floor she progressed to the birthing pool where she spent almost the entire remainder of her labor.
At 3:23pm a 7lb 5oz, 21.5 inch baby boy was born. He just might be the cutest thing that’s ever lived on this Earth, so don’t feel bad if your kids don’t look as cute when you see them next.
And here he is today, all cleaned up:
His name is Isaac Schroeder. We’re still working on a middle name. He’s perhaps the most laid back kid I’ve ever met. He doesn’t really cry and he just kicks back and relaxes while you do your thing.
There will be videos to follow but here are some of the pictures we took with our camera.
